David Beckham and Gary Neville have completed a full takeover of Salford City, buying out the remaining members of the iconic Class of ’92 as part of a new-look ownership consortium.
The former Manchester United stars, now lead a group that includes ex-banker Lord Mervyn Davies and businessman Declan Kelly.
As part of the shake-up, fellow 'Class of 92' members Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville have stepped down as shareholders - although reportedly they will continue to have a hand in the club’s future, with roles across football operations, recruitment, commercial strategy and the SCFC Foundation.
Beckham and Neville’s deepened investment marks a new chapter in Salford's story, their involvement with the Ammies now tracing back over a decade to when the Class of ’92 first took control of the non-league side. Their arrival in 2014 sparked a meteoric rise - with four promotions in five years propelling Salford into the EFL by 2019. However, the next rung on the EFL ladder has until now proved unattainable.
Salford finished the 2024-25 League Two season in eighth place, agonisingly one point outside the play-offs.
With fresh leadership at the top and familiar faces still pulling strings behind the scenes, Beckham and Neville's takeover signals that a concerted effort to finally reach League One is on the cards next season.
