Lazio and Besiktas could be set to do business once again as the Turkish giants are determined to pounce on the opportunity to sign Luca Pellegrini.
The Istanbul-based club secured the services of Ciro Immobile last summer. The Italian striker bid the Aquile farewell after eight prosperous campaigns, leaving Lazio as the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
According to Fotospor, Besiktas are keen to lure yet another Lazio player in the shape of Pellegrini who has been surprisingly excluded from the club’s Serie A squad list for the second half of the season. The 25-year-old now risks spending the rest of the campaign on the sidelines, which is why he’s seriously considering making the move to Turkiye.
The Italian left-back has been acting as Nuno Tavares’ backup this season, playing regularly in the Europa League. However, Elseid Hysaj has recently won Marco Baroni’s favor, thus leaving Pellegrini at the bottom of the pecking order.
As the Turkish source explains, Besiktas have made swift progress in their attempts to poach Pellegrini on a six-month loan. They have reportedly found an agreement with Lazio as well as Juventus who still own the player’s contract. The Black Eagles are offering to pay €500,000 of the player’s remaining salary for the season (circa €1 million).
It should be noted that the transfer window will remain open in Turkiye until February 11th, thus giving Besiktas another week to seal the deal.
