Bianconere held to draw against Milan | OneFootball

An eventful draw for Juventus Women First Team who, having comeback from 1-0 down to take the lead against Milan at the Vismara stadium, conceded a late equaliser to draw 2-2. Chiara Beccari and Cristiana Girelli were on target for the Bianconere.

FIRST HALF

The match started at a high tempo and Juventus had an early opportunity: in the 4th minute Abi Brighton hit the post directly from a corner kick, coming so close to scoring an Olimpico. Milan reacted immediately through Chante Dompig who found space in the penalty area, only to be denied by Pauline Peyraud-Magnin in the 5th minute.

The deadlock was broken in the 19th minute: Mathilde Harviken challenged Monica Renzotti in the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Dompig stepped up and dispatched the penalty past the Bianconere goalkeeper to give Milan the lead.

Juventus, despite going behind, continued to play their game and came close to equalising on several occasions: in the 27th minute Marina Lenzini struck an effort from distance and forced Laura Giuliani into parrying the ball behind for a corner, while in the 31st minute Girelli got her head on the end of Paulina Krumbiegel's cross, but was once again denied by the Rossonere keeper.

The Bianconere continued to press and Girelli came close again with a header in the 36th minute but was unable to direct her effort goalwards. The first half ended with Juventus under pressure in search of the equaliser.

SECOND HALF

The Bianconere started strongly in the second half and nearly equalised in the 46th minute through Krumbiegel, whose powerful right-footed effort from inside the area went just over the bar. Shortly afterwards, in the 52nd minute Girelli connected with a volley following a cross from the left, but her effort flew just wide.

Juventus' persistence was rewarded in the 65th minute with the equalising goal: Sofia Cantore got in behind down the right-hand side, drove into the penalty area and picked out Beccari in the middle, who was first to react and beat Giuliani to make it 1-1.

Massimiliano Canzi's team weren’t satisfied with just equalising and seven minutes later completed the comeback: in the 72nd minute Girelli got on the end of a through ball from Cantore and beat Giuliani with a precise right-footed finish, giving Juventus a 2-1 lead.

In the closing stages Juventus tried to see out the game, whilst Milan pushed forward in search of an equaliser. In the 90th minute, they broke through: Nicola Karczewska, who had only recently come on as a substitute, was in the right place at the right time to tap-in and make it 2-2.

The final whistle signalled an unsatisfying draw, although the gap between the Bianconere and second-placed Inter and Roma remains a good 11 points.
