BILD: Kovar's future at Leverkusen rests in Xabi Alonso's hands tomorrow

BILD suggest that Matej Kovar’s time at Leverkusen could be decided by the starting lineup against Arminia Bielefeld in tomorrow's DFB-Pokal semi-final.

In the wake of Xabi Alonso’s press conference today, the head coach stated “we will see” if the Czechia shot-stopper gets the nod in goals or not.

“The lineup has not been 100% decided yet. He [Kovar] is ready to play, he trained well, so I can’t find an issue.

“Mistakes are a part of the game, and it happened to him in Munich, but for me that is not a reason [to not play him],” the Spaniard added.

Kovar has come under speculation lately, tipping the 24-year-old with a possible move away from the BayArena in summer.

Furthermore, Die Werkself have already been linked with a handful of potential replacements including Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu and Man City’s Stefan Ortega.
