Birmingham City sign West Ham United defender Cooke on loan | OneFootball

Birmingham City have completed the signing of defender Shannon Cooke on a loan deal from West Ham United until the end of the season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues just a short time ago.

Cooke joined West Ham United in 2023 and she has gone on to make 28 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has scored one goal. The 24-year-old has been in and around the squad this season but she has found regular starts hard to come by.

The defender spent her youth on the books of Arsenal before going to America to combine her studies with playing football at Louisiana State University. Cooke joined latest club West Ham United upon her return to the UK.

On the international stage, Cooke previously represented England up to and including Under-19 level.

After joining Birmingham City on loan, Cooke said “After having a talk with Amy [Merricks] and the staff and players, I think the ambition is really exciting. I think it’s clear to see all of the work that’s going into the Club to help them progress and be successful and I’m really excited to be a part of that.”

Cooke could make her Birmingham City debut when they face Sunderland at The Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon.
