Birmingham City have been crowned League One champions after Wrexham were held to a goalless draw at Wigan Athletic in Saturday’s early kick-off.

The Blues had already sealed promotion earlier in the week with a 2-1 victory over Peterborough United. With Wrexham needing a win at the Brick Community Stadium to keep their title hopes alive, the draw confirmed Birmingham’s position at the summit—securing their first league title since lifting the old Second Division trophy in the 1994–95 season.

Chris Davies’ side, not in action this weekend, watched from afar as the only remaining challengers failed to register a single shot on target, despite extending their unbeaten run to seven matches.

The Birmingham squad is currently in London ahead of Sunday’s Vertu Trophy final—also against Peterborough—a competition they last won in 1995 under Barry Fry.

More than 40,000 supporters are expected to descend on Wembley Stadium following the club’s title celebrations. The triumph marks a resounding return to the Championship at the first time of asking and caps a dominant campaign.

The achievement also underscores the impact of Knighthead’s significant investment, with the club’s owners having spent £25 million on transfers and committing to the development of a new Premier League-standard stadium just a mile from St Andrew’s.
