Rovers are keen on signing Harrison Armstrong this summer, after showing interest back in January.
Blackburn Rovers are targeting Everton's Harrison Armstrong ahead of the summer transfer window, after missing out on a deal to bring the midfielder in during January.
That's according to Alan Nixon via Patreon, who has stated that Valerien Ismael is looking to add to his midfield options once this season comes to an end, and the teenager, who is currently out on loan at Derby County, is one of those who he is interested in.
Rovers won their first game under their French manager on Saturday afternoon, as they defeated relegation-threatened Luton Town 1-0 at Kenilworth Road, despite being down to 10 players for the majority of the second half.
It was a vital victory for Ismael, who has already found himself to be unpopular with supporters, as Blackburn look to end the season as strongly as possible after losing their grip on the play-off spots following John Eustace's departure in February.
Frustrations have started to boil over at Ewood Park in the last couple of weeks, with the large majority of it aimed at The Venky's and other club representatives.
However, there have also been questions asked of Ismael's management, and he is looking to strengthen in the summer to help the team get back to where they were when he arrived.
Blackburn are looking to add to their squad in the transfer window, but they look likely to do this with youngsters on loan, or players who will arrive for low fees, as per Nixon, and Armstrong ticks the box in that regard.
He is a previous target of the Lancashire outfit while Eustace was in the dugout, but he wanted to bring in a more experienced player to sit in his midfield, despite the Everton hotshot playing a key role in his Derby team.
The Toffees may just be looking to see how Armstrong gets on in the Championship across a full campaign, having only joined the Rams on deadline day, and Blackburn are hoping that they can win any ensuing race for his signature.
While they sit 11 places and 13 points above Derby currently, Rovers may face a challenge to sign the 18-year-old on loan once this season comes to an end from their former boss, due to the important role that the England U18 international has played since his arrival.
He has been a key part of the Rams' resurgence over the course of the last month, and alongside Ebou Adams and Liam Thompson, he has helped form a solid midfield for the East Midlands side to build from.
Blackburn, despite their win on Saturday, are seemingly on a downward spiral, and if Derby do survive, it may be tough to try and entice Armstrong to Ewood Park.
Nevertheless, a strong end to the campaign could show to Everton that Rovers have more than enough to offer their teenager and they could well prove to the Premier League club that they will look after the midfielder if he was to join.
