City midfielder Laura Blindkilde Brown says the support from the stands will be key during Saturday's Subway League Cup Final.

Nick Cushing’s side face Chelsea at Pride Park with kick-off set for 12:15 (UK).

It will be the first meeting of four between the two sides over a two-week period, which promises to be an exciting yet challenging prospect.

And Blindkilde Brown admits she feels enthusiastic, but the team are focused on their objective and proud of the journey so far.

“[I’m feeling] a lot of excitement, I know the team are also really excited about it, we want to win silverware, so it’s really important to us,” says Blindkilde Brown.

“We’ve had some tough opponents to get here which makes it even more special.”

It was always going to be a tough game against a Chelsea side currently leading the way in the WSL table, but she hopes the fans can help City over the line.

“[The fans have] a massive impact,” Blindkilde Brown adds.

“When we’re able to hear the fans when we’re on the pitch, it definitely helps spur us on and it’s really motivating for us, so it’s definitely really important that we hear them.”

Ahead of a tough run of games against Chelsea, our number 19 explains that winning on Saturday is also key for confidence going into the next three games.

“Taking the momentum into the next games will be important and we’re trying to get as far as we can in the Champions League,” she reveals.

“In the league we’re also trying to secure Champions League for next year and we’re also still in the FA Cup, so it’s all very exciting for us.”
