One Chelsea journalist has claimed that the club are not fully convinced internally for one of their main striker targets this summer.

The news comes off the back of Chelsea only managing to draw 2-2 at home with Ipswich Town on Sunday, a team who are destined to be in the Championship again next season.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea now eyeing 21-year-old attacker from Spain this summer!

One BBC pundit has pinned the blame on the players for the draw on Sunday, saying that they have to take a long hard look at themselves after that poor performance.

And head coach Enzo Maresca has also picked out two of his players for making some mistakes in the game which he believes was not good enough and cost them.

Overall though it was so poor, and blame really must be shared between the head coach, the manager, and those who have built an unbalanced squad at Chelsea that severely lacks quality experience and balance.

Chelsea are going all out to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window that opens at the end of this season, and we keep hearing about Liam Delap being the top target there.

Some internal doubts

Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips has the latest on Delap to Chelsea, and there appears to be some concerns, but not from everyone at the club.

He writes in his latest Substack column:

‘Chelsea are not fully convinced on Liam Delap internally at the moment so are not yet going all in. It is correct that they did get very close to signing him in January, but that did not happen for a few reasons. Ipswich didn’t want to sell, his much cheaper release clause comes into play in January, and not EVERYONE at Chelsea is yet to be fully convinced that Delap is the new striker we need. He is wanted by Enzo Maresca though, and others at the club, but the fact that not everyone is fully on board will make things happen such as Chelsea not offering as much in wages for the player as Manchester United are.’
