Left out of Olympique Lyonnais’ first team since the arrival of Pierre Sage, Sinaly Diomandé (23) will look for a new challenge this summer. His future could lie in Italy, as Bologna are circling the water for the Ivorian international.

Diomandé’s past season has been all but easy to swallow for the Ivorian international. Injured during the 2022-23 season, the defender never managed to regain the confidence he once had, and the turnover of head coaches didn’t make things better. A starter in the early stages of the season under the tenure of Fabio Grosso, Diomandé hasn’t played a single minute since the nomination of Pierre Sage as the new head coach, staying five times on the bench before being completely left out of the first team from February onward. Tracked by RB Salzburg last winter, the Ivorian defender could now pursue his career in Italy.

According to a report by Sky, Bologna is already looking for a replacement for Riccardo Calafiori, who is edging closer to Arsenal. Diomandé’s versatility, as he can play either as a centre back or right back, is a valuable addition to his set of skills for Bologna, which is tracking the Ivorian international. Left out of the professional group under the tenure of Pierre Sage, he will not be retained this summer. Diomandé hasn’t played a single minute in professional competition since November 2023, during a 0-2 home defeat against Lille OSC.
