Fiorentina midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura is reportedly hoping to renew his contract with Fiorentina before the end of the 2023-24 season, but Juventus and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli are also monitoring the situation according to recent reports.

Though 2024 has not been kind to Fiorentina, who have slipped to eighth place in the Serie A table and are without a win in regular time in any competition so far this year, Bonaventura has been a relatively reliable option for coach Vincenzo Italiano.

The 34-year-old has provided six goals and two assists from 20 top flight appearances this season, and was included in Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and Ukraine in November.

Bonaventura’s current contract with Fiorentina is set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season, but the club have an option to extend that by a further year if certain conditions are met.

The player himself, however, would reportedly like to review and renew his contract regardless of any clause that he has in his current contract, even if it means signing a new deal on the same terms he and his team negotiated in the previous contract.

Giuntoli and Juventus, meanwhile, are understood to be following the situation with some interest.

The Bianconeri could have made an offer to Fiorentina in January when they were searching for midfield reinforcements, but the eventual deal for Carlos Alcaraz casted Bonaventura to one side.
