Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund is continuing its pursuit of Chelsea defender Renato Veiga as it looks to add reinforcements to a depleted backline.
Dortmund are said to have sent an official loan offer to Chelsea for the former Augsburg player. The proposal is said to include a loan with an option to buy at the end of it. The Bundesliga side is also prepared to pay not only a loan fee but Veiga’s full wages.
The 21-year-old is a versatile defender who can play as not only a centre-back but also a left-back. Dortmund need numbers in defence as their recent injury crisis in the position has shown.
If Dortmund cannot complete the move for Veiga, they will then turn to Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Ukrainian is also versatile but cannot play in central defence, a position that Dortmund needs to fill.
It is not only defence that Dortmund are looking to fill, but attack is also of interest with Dortmund exploring the option of bringing Marcus Rashford to the club on loan as well as Veiga’s Chelsea teammate Carney Chukwuemeka.
