Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund has set a transfer budget of €15m for the winter window as they look to potentially make new additions to the squad.
Reinforcements in defence, particularly at centre-back and full-back are a priority of Dortmund. The ideal situation would be to sign a player similar to Julian Ryerson who can play as either a right-back or left-back. Dortmund have set aside €15m for this.
Dortmund had also hoped that player sales could boost their potential budget with the club hoping Donyell Malen could provide extra cash. However, despite the 25-year-old wanting to leave the club, there has been no offers for him. On top of this, Dortmund have several high salaries which are also taking up a lot of space with Sébastien Haller, Youssoufa Moukoko and Niklas Süle not matching their salary with their performances on the pitch.
Die Schwarzgelben goes into the winter break in sixth position after struggling, especially away from home for most of the first portion of the season.
