Bild reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach are working on a move away for long-time midfielder Christoph Kramer, as he is deemed as surplus to requirements.

Gladbach are said to be trying to dissolve Kramer’s contract, which is said to expire next summer. The 34-year-old has struggled to play this season due to illness but Kramer has also only started one Bundesliga game this season back in December.

However, a possible separation will likely drag on due to Kramer being one of the highest earners at the club and necessary payments would need to be paid.

The downside about the timing to terminate Kramer’s contract will mean he won’t get the same send-off that Patrick Herrman and Tony Jantschke got when they retired at the end of the season.

This once again shows how the board at Gladbach are heavily out of touch with even the simple things as Kramer is one of the longest-serving members of the squad having played 288 games for Gladbach, and he will be let go just like that.

The positive for Kramer is that if he decides to not continue with football he has a career in TV lined up as he is a regular pundit on the German public channel ZDF.
