AFC Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen will be a Real Madrid player next season after the Cherries confirmed that the Spanish side has triggered his release clause.

Huijsen has been one of the stand out defenders in the Premier League with the 20-year-old wanted by a number of top clubs in Europe.

But it is Real Madrid who have acted decisively by triggering Huijsen's £50 million release clause to ensure the defender will be a part of Xabi Alonso's side next season.

"Everyone at AFC Bournemouth is looking forward to working with Dean for the remaining two games of the Premier League season, before he embarks on the next step of his career," the club said in a statement.

Huijsen has played 34 times for Bournemouth this season, chipping in with three goals from the back.
