Jarrad Branthwaite is set to consider his future at Everton after being left out of the England squad this month.
Branthwaite was a notable omission from Thomas Tuchel’s first squad, despite the absence of John Stones and Harry Maguire.
Tuchel opted to select the uncapped Dan Burn and Jarrell Quansah ahead of Branthwaite for England’s World Cup qualifiers with Albania and Latvia.
Despite good form and interest in the 22-year-old from leading clubs, Branthwaite has been unable to break into the England side. He made his debut for the Three Lions in March but was left out of the squad for Euro 2024. He is yet to add to his sole cap.
At club level, Branthwaite has been a big part of Everton’s unbeaten run under David Moyes. He has formed an excellent partnership with James Tarkowski and ranks in the top 10 players in the Premier League for clearances and percentage of dribblers tackled this season
According to Sky Sports, Branthwaite will reassess his future at Everton after his latest snub. Manchester United failed with multiple bids to sign the defender last summer, while Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have tracked him this season.
Real Madrid have also monitored his progress with head coach Carlo Ancelotti having worked with Branthwaite during his time at Goodison Park.
Branthwaite will have two years to run on his Everton contract in the summer and is not against extending his deal. However, he will weigh up whether a move to a European side would benefit his England opportunities before committing to a new contract.
