Brazilian national team head coach Dorival Júnior has provided an insight into his decision not to call up Real Madrid star Endrick to his latest squad.
The name of frontman Endrick has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital since last night.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the 18-year-old has been dropped from national team duty.
Amid what has proven a difficult couple of months early in his career as a Real Madrid player, Endrick was not named in Brazil’s squad for an upcoming World Cup qualifying double-header against Venezuela and Uruguay.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his latest panel of players being unveiled, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his decision to leave Endrick out was put to Dorival.
And the Seleção’s headmaster went on to point to the youngster’s lack of recent minutes at club level as the leading factor:
“We have no time for training or to make players return in good form. Are they performing or not? That’s the question to answer.”
