Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a striker goes on. The Premier League side showed a keen interest in Randal Kolo Muani at the start of the window before he ultimately opted to join Juventus on a straight loan deal, whilst on Friday, Mathys Tel rejected a move to the club, despite an agreement being reached with his club, Bayern Munich.
As reported by L’Équipe, AS Monaco’s Breel Embolo (27) was also a target. The Swiss international, valued at €20m by the Principality club, has seen competition for a place in the starting XI increased through the arrival of Mika Biereth earlier in the window. Once Folarin Balogun and George Ilenikhena both return for their injuries, there will be four players competing for one spot.
The question of Embolo’s future may, therefore, be posed once again in the summer, however, L’Équipe understands that, despite Tottenham’s interest, Embolo will remain at Monaco, at least until the end of the season.
