Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Nicolas Kühn had an injury concern during the warmup which prompted the late change to the Starting XI. The German winger was named in the team from the start but after the Bhoys emerged from the tunnel, supporters were informed that Yang would start in his place.

It was assumed that Kühn might have picked up an injury but the manager clarified that it was a precautionary decision that the club will need to investigate. Speaking to BBC Scotland after the 2-0 victory over United, Brendan confirmed that it was a thigh issue which caused the change.

“He felt something in the top of his thigh. He didn’t feel he could risk it so we just need to see what that looks like.”

Yang started instead but was replaced in the second half by Reo Hatate with Luke McCowan moving out into that wide right position. The South Korean winger will be disappointed that he wasn’t able to take advantage of his starting role this evening.

Kühn has been one of Celtic’s standout performers this season and the injury scare may prompt Celtic to be more proactive in their hunt for wide reinforcements. The club are expected to bring in competition for Daizen Maeda and Kühn with Forrest injured and Luis Palma linked with an exit.

Celtic won the game 2-0 thanks to goals either side of half time from Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate. The Scottish Champions had all of the ball but toiled to get the second goal to kill off the visitors from Tayside. The victory takes Celtic 16 points clear at the top of the table with Rangers playing against Dundee tomorrow at Dens Park.
