Brentford joins ResusReady campaign | OneFootball

Ahead of Wednesday’s Restart a Heart Day, Brentford Football Club has joined Resuscitation Council UK’s (RCUK) campaign, ResusReady.

The campaign aims to encourage those businesses who offer their staff CPR training and individuals who are CPR trained, to become ResusReady.

In joining up, Brentford will appear on an interactive heat map, helping RCUK identify any gaps in CPR training and defibrillator awareness.

Brentford director and general counsel Nity Raj spoke about the club’s commitment to being ResusReady.

“I’m so pleased that we are ResusReady and can really show our commitment as a club to our local community,” he said.

“On a matchday, attendees and staff have access to eight defibs in total, two of which are publicly accessible outside our stadium.

“This is one of many things we are doing as part of our Heart of West London initiative to make a difference to cardiac health in our community.

“We are proud that staff at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust have also recently completed RCUK’s Basic Life Support Instructor course to teach life-saving skills to as many people as possible in the local area.”

The campaign is free, however organisations must have offered their staff basic CPR training within the last 12 months, while individuals must have completed the training within that time frame.

As part of the campaign, RCUK has created a short film, featuring inspiring stories from around the UK, including Brentford.

Brentford’s commitment to becoming ResusReady continues a strong relationship with RCUK, who are a part of the Heart of West London (HoWL) partnership.

HoWL is a partnership between Brentford and several charities and organisations, making a difference in cardiac health through research, life-saving screenings, increased CPR awareness and more.

To ensure everyone has the skills to save a life, we're running workshops to educate and empower people by teaching them skills in CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator.

The next series of workshops will take place on Friday 18 October at Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub and will be led by Brentford Football Club Community Sports Trust staff.
