Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes lead the team out at Old Trafford against Manchester City but he was not alone.
The Portuguese midfielder was accompanied by a fan who was invited by the Man United captain.
Seven-year-old Bobby Moore from Belfast had a special role as Manchester United’s mascot today.
Bobby made history as the club’s first-ever mascot to use a wheelchair or powerchair.
He was personally invited by Fernandes to spend Friday at the training ground and lead the teams out ahead of today’s match.
Fernandes extended the invitation after seeing a video of Bobby joyfully celebrating one of his goals in a previous Manchester derby.
It is a gesture that the fan will remember for the rest of his life and the Man United captain is responsible for it.
Stories like this prove that football is indeed the beautiful game. It is not only a competitive sport but also a source of happiness for the fans around the world.

Winning and losing is a part of the game but acts like these are important so that the fans feel that they are connected to the team and the football club.
It is a classy gesture from Fernandes and one that needs to be shared. The Portuguese midfielder is often criticised for his attitude on the pitch but this shows that he cares about the fans and the club.
It is a mystery why we do not see such acts from the players on a regular basis. The club is nothing without the fans and they should be treated respect and compassion.
