Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes appears to have put an end to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future at the club with a statement reaffirming his commitment to the Magpies.
Guimaraes has dazzled since joining Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022 and has found himself heavily linked with a move away from St James' Park this summer, with both Arsenal and Manchester City known admirers of the Brazil international.
However, Guimaraes has remained focused on Newcastle and was even rewarded with his first start as captain during Saturday's friendly defeat to Yokohama F. Marinos, after which he took to social media to discuss the strength of his bond with the club.
"I'm very happy to be starting another season with this club that has done so much for me since my first day here," he wrote. "I'm glad to be back and more prepared than ever to have a brilliant season and to help Newcastle reach the highest possible position!
"Another dream has come true! Being the captain of this team is everything I've always dreamed of but never imagined! We're in this together, and I'm sure I'll be more dedicated than ever to this badge."

Newcastle faced immense financial pressure earlier this summer as they battled to avoid sanctions for breaches of Profit & Sustainability Rules before the deadline of June 30.
Talks were even held with Liverpool over winger Anthony Gordon, but the sales of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh for a combined £68m alleviated the pressure.
Newcastle are now expected to offer Gordon a new contract as they seek to tie down the core that helped inspire the Magpies' impressive performances last season.
Striker Alexander Isak continues to be linked with a big-money exit but Newcastle are under no pressure to part ways with the Sweden international, who bagged 21 goals in 30 games last season.
