América defender Bruno Valdez was not too put out by his side’s 2-0 defeat to Monterrey in a friendly on Saturday night.
The Liga MX sides met in a friendly in front of 18,000 fans at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, with goals from Alfonso González and Jaziel Martínez giving Rayados the victory.
Both sides were depleted due to the ongoing international break, but it gave players like Valdez the opportunity to get important minutes into their legs.
“I felt very good, obviously there is a lack of rhythm within the first team, unfortunately we did not get the result we wanted, but happy to play again and be here with all the people,” Valdez said afterwards, per TUDN.
“Individually, very well because I returned with the first team and with all these people, very happy to be able to listen to all the people.
“Unfortunately we could not have the result they wanted, but thank them for supporting us. We are calm that in the league we are doing good things.”
Valdez has yet to feature this for the Azulcrema in the league this season, as he works his way back from knee surgery that also saw him miss most of the Apertura.
The Paraguay international could feature in next Saturday’s top-of-the-table Guard1anes 2021 clash with Mexico City rivals Cruz Azul.
