América have experienced a remarkable reversal of fortune in recent weeks, and there is further good news for them on the fitness of central defender Bruno Valdez.
The Paraguay international injured his ankle against Necaxa on April 2, with fears that he could be out for a prolonged period of time.
However it subsequently transpired that the damage was only a sprain, and it is now reported he is only days away from a complete return to action.
ESPN reporter Cesar Caballero tweeted on Sunday: “Bruno did regenerative [work] but his injury is not serious, he is in doubt for half a week.”
That makes it unlikely the 29-year-old will feature in Wednesday’s Clausura clash with León, but he may be available for Saturday’s trip to Tigres.
Interim manager Fernando Ortiz would no doubt be happy to be able to call on the services of Valdez, as Las Águilas look to close the three-point gap on the top four.
Finishing in those positions would allow the Azulcrema qualify directly to the quarter-finals of La Liguilla.
