A round-up of the latest rumoured comings and going at Burnley
Burnley are ticking along nicely in their quest to make an instant return to the Premier League, but there's no doubting that they'll be looking to bring in reinforcements in the latter stages of the window.
Those incomings will also no doubt be supplemented by some outgoings, with an inflated squad needing to be cut down in order to facilitate new arrivals.
Three new faces have winged into Turf Moor so far this month, with Oliver Sonne signing from Silkeborg, while Ashley Barnes and Jonjo Shelvey have both joined on free transfers after leaving their respective clubs.
None of those three can really be viewed as players who have signed and directly improved the first team, but they've certainly improved the depth and the levels of experience in the camp.
The next task for Scott Parker will be to add some quality to his front line, which has come in for some criticism this season, but they've already taken one blow in that department as they missed out on signing Morgan Whittaker.
After missing out on Whittaker, Burnley have had their hand forced into identifying other targets to fill that void on the wing.
According to Football Insider, Cardiff's Ollie Tanner is one man they've identified as an alternative, although they're believed to be facing competition from Leicester City, Southampton and Leeds United.
With the Bluebirds battling to preserve their Championship status, any move for Tanner could be a pricey one for Burnley, and he remains a bit of an unknown quantity at this level.
He's made four goal contributions this season, scoring twice and assisting twice, so it remains to be seen whether he's got the guile to be the answer to Burnley's final third problems.
He's not kicked a ball yet for Burnley this season, but Nathan Redmond is the subject of transfer interest from Birmingham City, while according to Darren Witcoop, he's also the attracting interest from other Championship clubs.
Some Burnley fans may argue he'd be as good a solution to their attacking issues as Tanner may be given his lack of statistical output, but Redmond's fitness levels remain a concern.
He did return to the Burnley squad earlier this season only to then go missing again, although Scott Parker has claimed he's now approaching full fitness.
Playing for Birmingham in his younger years, Redmond has an emotional attachment to the club and a move remains a distinct possibility.
Over the weekend, Sheffield Wednesday were credited with an interest in Stuart Armstrong by Alan Nixon, who also linked the Scottish cap to Burnley just a week prior.
Although a move for Armstrong hasn't yet materialised, he has the sort of profile that Parker likes in a player - experienced and hard working - so a move certainly can't be ruled out.
This latest interest from Sheffield Wednesday could force Burnley's hand a little to make a move if they do hold a genuine interest in signing a man who was promoted out of the Championship with Southampton though.
