We have an update on the Clarets' injury situation, as they prepared to take on Wayne Rooney's Pilgrims.

Burnley will be looking to get back to winning ways following their 0-0 draw against Oxford United last weekend.

In fairness to the Clarets, the U's have shown real promise this term and because of that, their point at the Kassam Stadium isn't a bad one.

However, they need to minimise the amount of points they drop between now and the end of the season if they want to give themselves the best chance of getting back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Having been relegated despite spending heavily and having an excellent squad at their disposal, promotion has to be the aim this term, and they have made a fairly decent start.

There may have been quite a bit of movement in their squad during the latter stages of the summer window, but they have the strength of squad needed to secure a place in the top six.

Ideally, they should be looking to win automatic promotion and avoid the lottery of the play-offs, but whether they can do that remains to be seen.

Tomorrow night, they face Plymouth Argyle, who have managed to pick up some valuable points under Wayne Rooney, but will be the clear underdogs at Turf Moor.

Ahead of the game, we take a look at the Clarets' latest injury situation.

Joe Worrall could be set for spell on sidelines

Centre-back Joe Worrall was an enforced change for the Clarets at the weekend, with the defender missing the Oxford game.

Speaking about this injury, manager Scott Parker told the Burnley Express: "Joe Worrall was a forced change. Hopefully he won't be out for too long.

"It's an impact injury. We'll see [how long he will be out for], we're just managing that at this moment in time."

Zian Flemming and Connor Roberts could return

Zian Flemming and Connor Roberts could be back in action this week, with the game at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday coming too early for both.

According to Parker, both have been "struggling" with their respective injuries, but he is hopeful of their return this week.

Their returns would be a big boost, with Flemming able to be a real asset in the final third at this level.

Roberts is a great player to have in both the defensive and attacking thirds - and is likely to be heavily involved when he returns to action.

Burnley have some longer-term injury worries

Unfortunately, the Clarets have a number of players unavailable at this point, which is a blow for them.

The absence of Jordan Beyer, Hjalmar Ekdal and Hannes Delcroix leaves them with fewer options in defence, which isn't ideal, with Beyer able to be a particularly useful asset at this level.

Aaron Ramsey also remains out of action, and that's a real shame because he can make a real difference in the final third.

Manuel Benson, Nathan Redmond and Mike Tresor remain out too - and the absence of Benson is a particularly big blow - considering how important he was under Vincent Kompany during their promotion-winning 2022/23 campaign.
