Cádiz head to their Andalusian neighbours Sevilla on Thursday evening knowing only a win is enough if they want to keep their hopes of playing in La Liga next season alive.

The side currently finds themselves five points clear of safety, on a tally of 29 points this season, having won only five games in the top flight.

If they are looking to do the seemingly impossible and stay up however, they will have to make history first, as per Canal Sur, the club have never had a win in 22 games at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuan in Seville.

Cádiz have played out 14 defeats and eight draws playing away in Nervion, a record which doesn’t look set to change as Sevilla are on a strong run of home form, having won four of their last five there.

Regardless of their prospects, Cádiz’s fans will likely flock to the away end of the Sánchez-Pizjuan in their droves, making the short drive of just over an hour in order to hopefully see their side make history.

For Sevilla, the match is somewhat of a dead rubber, with only pride to play for after recovering from their poor first half of the season to guarantee safety.

Sevilla find themselves in mid-table in 12th, hoping to improve next year in what will be their first season without European Football since 2012/13.
