Andrea Cambiaso had yet to speak publicly after being insistently linked to Manchester City in January. He did it after the victory over Hellas Verona, suggesting he wasn’t particularly close to departing talking to Sky (via SOSFanta).
“I lived the window well. I’ve been unlucky because I got hurt when that rumor started. The ankle was my only problem. I feel better now. I’ve been dealing with this issue, which I underestimated at first, since December 7th. But I’m happy now. I’m coming back. It has been a rough moment for the team and especially me personally due to this injury.”
Cambiaso has played in a few different roles.
“I’ve never been able to give a firm answer about my favorite position because it depends on the opponents. I just like to help my team. In this one, I had to stay in the back to provide balance because Verona were countering a lot.”
Cambiaso addressed the weird stretch at Juventus.
“The fans are free to protest. They were right given the way we were eliminated last Wednesday. We were good at staying focused on the game. We don’t have regrets because we have always given our whole, other than in the Empoli game. It was a bad look that we must forget. We can’t change the past now. It was important to bounce back, and we proved to have character. The only good thing is that we have more time to work now. Our goal is to draw level with Atalanta. Sunday’s game will be pivotal and beautiful. It’s always nice to face them since they play a peculiar style of football.”
