The FERJ announced that the Campeonato Carioca will return this week, beginning on Thursday, when Flamengo host Bangu at the Maracanã.
The match will kick off at 8pm EST (9pm Brasília), though the match will not be broadcast on TV due to the continued stalemate between Flamengo and Globo.
Flamengo, who won the Taça Guanabara, currently lead Group A of the Taça Rio with a perfect nine points and would clinch a place in the semi-finals with a victory.
Bangu, meanwhile, are in third place with four points and will be hoping to pull off a miracle result and hope Portuguesa (three points) can knock off Boavista (six points) on Friday.
Of course, this will be Flamengo’s first match in over three months. They last played on 14 March, when they defeated Portuguesa 2-1, three days after their impressive 3-0 win over Barcelona (Ecuador) in Copa Libertadores play.
