The Santiago Bernabeu witnessed one of its most heartfelt evenings as Luka Modric and Carlo Ancelotti received an emotional farewell in front of fans, teammates, and legends of Real Madrid.

The atmosphere was thick with nostalgia and respect, honouring two figures who have helped define an era of historic success for the club.

Modric and Ancelotti were celebrated in a ceremony that left few dry eyes. While the Croatian playmaker is set to officially leave Real Madrid after the upcoming Club World Cup, this event marked his final moments at the Bernabeu as a player.

In the stands and on the pitch, tributes poured in from past and present colleagues. Toni Kroos, Keylor Navas, and Mateo Kovacic were among those who made their presence felt, alongside several injured players.

However, it was Dani Carvajal who perhaps best captured the emotional weight of the day.

Carvajal’s message to Modric

The long-serving right-back and future club captain penned a moving tribute on Instagram, reflecting on twelve years of camaraderie with Modric.

“I’ve seen you do everything in this shirt… and always with a humility that only the truly great possess. A Real Madrid legend,” Carvajal wrote.

Carvajal went further, calling Modric “An idol on and off the field. A daily example of commitment, talent, and respect. And for me, above all, a friend with whom I’ve shared a thousand battles.”

The tribute concluded with a powerful message of perspective: “One day you’ll look back and see that everything you’ve achieved in this shirt (it seemed so easy) is only within the reach of a select few.

Thank you for everything, Luka Modric. Being your teammate has been a privilege.

Words for Ancelotti

Meanwhile, the Spaniard also had some words reserved for Ancelotti, stating that Real Madrid will always be his home.

Uff, Carletto… It is not easy to say goodbye to someone who has marked so much.

Thank you for trusting me all these years, for always being close and for making me feel important.

“Thank you for uniting an entire dressing room with your calm, your wisdom and your smile.

You are leaving as what you are, Real Madrid history and a wonderful person. Best of luck in what is to come, Coach. Here you will always have your home.

“Thank you, Ancelotti,” he concluded
