Celtic FC B sealed their first UEFA Youth League victory of the campaign on Tuesday afternoon after running out 2-0 winners against Lazio.

An early strike from Daniel Kelly gave the Hoops the lead, before Bruno Davidson’s second half goal secured all three points on their travels to Italy.

Following on from their impressive display on Friday night, despite losing out the Bhoys were looking to carry momentum over from that performance into the UEFA Youth League.

During the outing against Brighton, it was ultimately a disappointing start which cost the young Hoops on the night.

However, they rectified that in Rome, making the ideal start to the match after opening the scoring inside the opening 15 minutes.

After a promising opening quarter of the match which saw the Celts dominate much of the ball, the youngsters showcased their clinical edge with the opening goal of the match.

Anticipating a short back-pass from the Lazio defender to his goalkeeper, Lewis Dobbie nipped in front of the Italian shot-stopper.

Remaining composed inside the area, the forward then laid the ball into the path of Daniel Kelly in a better position, who took a touch to set himself before calmly placing his finish into the back of the net.

Following their strong start, the Hoops continued that momentum throughout the first half, keeping the home side pinned back with their press.

Returning goalkeeper, Joe Morrison had very little to do, coming out well on a few occasions to collect deliveries into his area.

During the first 45 minutes, Celtic had a series of corners and looked to work the ball into dangerous areas. But they couldn’t double their advantage in the first half, taking a well-deserved 1-0 lead in at the break.

The Hoops kicked off the second half in a similar fashion, enjoying large spells of the ball as they looked to go and grab a second goal in Rome.

As the hour mark approached, the home side were restricted to very little, but did have a few openings later in the half.

Morrison was forced into his first real save of the game just beyond the 70th minute mark, as he got down quickly to turn the ball round the post with his feet.

However, shortly after that strong save, the Celts produced a response, scoring their second goal of the game, which would ultimately secure victory.

A brilliantly worked team goal was rounded off by Bruno Davidson at the back post, who had the simple task of tapping the ball into the back of an empty net, after some superb passing play from the back.

It was a composed and controlled performance for the young Hoops on their travels, as they picked up their first European victory of the campaign.

CELTIC: Morrison, Bonetig, Agbaire, Mackenzie, Dede (Davidson 46), Bonnar, Ure (Thomson 88), Carse, Kelly, Vata, Dobbie (Cummings 67).

Subs: McLean, Osagie, Donovan, McArdle.
