Celtic are exploring the possibility of adding a few players towards the end of the January transfer window.
The Bhoys have booked their place in the Champions League knockout play-off after winning against Young Boys on Wednesday night.
In the revamped league format, they secured their place in the top 24, and they can still hope to get into the last 16 if they beat Aston Villa in the final game.
Celtic’s impressive Euro run will see them add more funds, which they can invest in signing new players.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Celtic would be open to a return for winger Jota, and the fans will be excited if the transfer goes through.
The 25-year-old attacker was a massive success at Parkhead before he moved to Al-Ittihad. The move turned into a disaster for him, and he joined Rennes in the summer.
Jota has been frozen out at the French club, and Celtic are exploring the possibility of signing him.
According to Ouest-France, Jota is edging closer to moving to the Glasgow club, and he is close to returning to Celtic Park.
In a separate deal, Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi could move to Rennes for around £10 million.
Kyogo has been a key player for the Hoops since 2021 and has netted 85 times for the Scottish giants in all competitions.
The Japanese international would welcome the chance to join a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues, and his exit looks inevitable.
While Jota is not a like-for-like replacement, Celtic would benefit tremendously if he recaptures his old form.
Jota, who scored 28 goals in 83 games for Celtic, must also realise that he should focus on building his career at the Scottish Premiership club after staying in the wilderness in the past few years.
Losing Furuhashi during the middle of the season would be a huge blow, but Celtic fans will be really buzzing if they get Jota back.
