It is safe to say that most Celtic fans were unhappy when the club decided to part ways with Kyogo Furuhashi, their starting striker, in the middle of the season and then did not bring in a centre-forward to replace him despite being linked with the likes of Mathiast Kvistgaarden, Kelechi Iheanacho, David Strelec, Danny Ings and a few others. But in hindsight, that has proven to be the right decision.

Whether by luck or design, Celtic might have found their next number nine. It is none other than Daizen Maeda, who is having the season of his life right now.

Maeda has always done well for Celtic. But while playing as a striker recently, he seems to have taken his game up several more levels.

Of course, Maeda performing as a striker should not come as a surprise to anyone. After all, that is a role he has played for Japan at the World Cup and before arriving at Celtic, he was the J-League's top scorer with Yokohama F. Marinos.

Most Celtic fans believed that the club absolutely needed to sign a striker. But if they can keep Maeda at the club beyond this season, they probably don't.

Everything seems to be falling into place for Celtic on the flanks as well. Jota has been impressive since his return in the winter, as he was signed permanently from Rennes.

On the other hand, Yang Hyun-jun is proving to be the surprise success story of this season. He has scored 5 goals and provided a further 5 assists since the turn of the year. After struggling to deliver for a season-and-a-half, the South Korean winger suddenly looks like a player reborn and Nicolas Kuhn might actually have some competition on his hands.
