Jose Mourinho will be hoping to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg when his Fenerbahce side take on the Rangers at Ibrox. That is not an easy task, for sure. But not an impossible one either, especially for the Special One. And Celtic fans will love some of the Portuguese manager's comments leading up to this week's game.
Mourinho is someone who has seen it all and done it all in football. And he did not rule out the idea of managing in Scotland one day.
This won't be his first visit to Ibrox though. It looks like the Portuguese manager has already taken in a derby game between Celtic and the Rangers.
The one in particular will bring up happy memories for Celtic supporters. Mourinho shared how he was in attendance for a derby at Ibrox, merely a couple of weeks before his FC Porto team faced the Hoops in the final of the UEFA Cup in 2003.
While Mourinho might not remember the scoreline, Celtic did win on that day. The Hoops walked out of Ibrox with a 2-1 victory, with the goals coming from Alan Thompson and John Hartson.
Of course, Mourinho will be hoping for an even bigger margin of victory at Ibrox this week. Fenerbahce need to win by two goals, just to take the game into extra-time.
One has to admit that the Rangers' form in the Europa League has been interesting this season, especially when you consider how bad the team have been domestically. As things stand, they are 16 points behind Celtic in the Premiership.
Yet, if the Rangers can avoid a heavy defeat against Fenerbahce this week, they will book their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Hopefully, Mourinho will find a way to stop that from happening.
