Celtic's Jota could be out until 2026 after picking up an ACL injury during his team's 5-0 victory over Dundee United last month.
The injury came early in the match with the Portuguese forward being replaced in the 35th minute by Adam Idah, with the substitute then going on to score twice.
"Sadly, it's not good news for him or for us really," Jota's manager Brendan Rodgers told Sky Sports about the injury.
"It didn't look as bad, but when he had the scan, it looks like he'll probably be out for six to nine months.
"So he's done his cruciate and a little bit of other damage in there. He's quite upbeat and philosophical about it."
Jota returned to Celtic Park in January after having played in Saudi Arabia for Al-Ittihad and then spending the first half of the 2024/25 season in France Rennes.
Since his return to Scotland, Jota featured 16 times for Celtic in all competitions, scoring five and assisting twice.
