Charleroi are beginning to take control of play-off two in the Belgian Pro League. Despite a slip up against Dender, the side have looked to be the best of the six teams. One player who has been integral in recent weeks has been Ivorian winger Parfait Guiagon. The 24-year-old has scored once and grabbed two assists in five play off games and has been a constant threat out wide throughout the postseason. With a handful of matches to go, the winger has matched the six goals he scored for the side last season. So far, he already has two more assists than the previous campaign with six in 31 so far.

Guiagon has an eye for goal and is a strong runner with the ball. He has the highest successful dribbles per 90 in the Pro League according to FotMob data with 3.2. Given that the two players above him are Nilson Angula and Petter Nosakhare Dahl, neither of whom have played as many minutes as Guiagon in the league this season, he really should be considered top of this category. Clearly the side know this, with Rik De Mil ensuring that the winger gets on the ball as often as possible. He touches the ball more than 90% of the other wingers int he league, while also attempting more shots than 89% of wingers in the Pro League. He is also creating more chances than 69% of fellow wingers and has scored more goals than 66% of the league.

Guiagon has just one year left on his deal with the Zebras, although they do have an option to extend this for another season. His performances so far certainly warrant an extension, while they also may have attracted interest from elsewhere. Charleroi may well look to cash in on the Ivorian this summer, who himself may be aiming to push for the Cote d’Ivoire squad for the upcoming AFCON in Morocco.
