MIAMI — The calendar in Concacaf W leagues continues to intensify as NWSL clubs prepare to return to action, starting with the upcoming NWSL Challenge Cup, which will begin the opening festivities.

Meanwhile, the race to the playoffs intensifies in the USL Super League and Liga MX Femenil.

The 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals looms as the four semifinalists continue building their best form ahead of the tournament this May. Mexican sides Club América and Tigres UANL and U.S. clubs NJ/NY Gotham FC and Portland Thorns look forward to becoming the inaugural champions.

Pachuca, Club América continue in close proximity at top of Liga MX Femenil

CF Pachuca took a 1-nil home win against Necaxa on Monday night to retain first place in the Liga MX Femenil Clausura 2025 season. Las Tuzas leads the standings with 28 points. Charlyn Corral struck again, this time with a match-winning goal in the 90’+9, to improve to 15 goals in the Golden Boot race.

Club América earned a 4-nil win over Atlético de San Luis to improve to 27 points and remain one point from first place. Las Águilas have the best goal difference with +33, boasting the highest-scoring offense with 39 goals.

Pumas UNAM remained in third place, improving to 22 points with a 1-nil win at Atlas. Tigres UANL earned a 2-nil victory against CD Guadalajara, sitting at fourth in the table with 20 points.

CF Monterrey won 3-2 at Cruz Azul to follow in fifth with 19 points. Guadalajara is sixth with 18 points after its loss to Tigres.

FC Juárez, on 17 points, seeks to rise over Rayadas and Chivas on Tuesday when it visits Toluca. Querétaro, on 14 points, looks to jump to eight when it meets Santos Laguna.

Fort Lauderdale United FC jumps to second in USL Super League

The USL Super League continued its 2024/25 season with intrigue as last place Lexington SC took a nil-nil home draw against first place Brooklyn FC.

Fort Lauderdale United FC rose from fourth to second with a 2-1 win against Carolina Ascent FC.

Brooklyn leads with 31 points, Fort Lauderdale is second with 27, Carolina is third with 25 and Dallas Trinity FC rounds out the current playoff picture with 24.

2025 NWSL Challenge Cup features rematch of league final

As the start of the 2025 NWSL season nears, a rematch of the 2024 championship match will kick off the season when the Orlando Pride host Washington Spirit in the 2025 NWSL Challenge Cup, on March 7 at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Orlando Pride Captain Marta continues her legendary career after signing a two-year extension in the offseason as the reigning champions take on USWNT star Trinity Rodman and company. The match could also mark the Spirit debut of Mexican defender Rebeca Bernal.
