Djordje Petrovic is likely to leave Chelsea this summer despite his good form for Strasbourg this season according to Ben Jacobs.
The Blues signed Petrovic in the summer of 2023 from MLS side New England Revolution in a deal worth £14m to challenge Robert Sanchez for the number one shirt.
Petrovic had to be patient and wait for his chance, but he grabbed it with both hands when Sanchez got injured, and the Serb kept his place in the team for the second half of the campaign.
Despite impressing last season and doing better than Sanchez, the Blues and Enzo Maresca took the decision to make the Spaniard number one for this season.
Chelsea signed another two goalkeepers last summer in Filip Jorgensen and talented teenager Mike Penders, with the decision taken to send Petrovic out on loan to sister club Strasbourg.
Sanchez has struggled and was booed by Chelsea fans in their defeat to Manchester City last month, whilst he was dropped for the win against West Ham on Monday night.

In contrast Petrovic has been putting in a series of impressive performances for Strasbourg, with manager Liam Rosenior hailing him as world class.
Petrovic will return to Chelsea at the end of the season, when a decision will need to be taken on his future, but Jacobs has reported the 25-year-old is still likely to leave in the summer.
“The Serbian international is still likely to leave Chelsea this summer despite his strong form,” he wrote in his GIVEMESPORT column.
“That’s because highly-rated 19-year-old keeper Mike Penders, who stands at 6ft 7in, will arrive from Genk and there remains faith in Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.

“If Petrovic does return to Chelsea, his wage automatically increases as part of a clause in his contract.”
It would be a shame if Petrovic doesn’t get another opportunity at Stamford Bridge as he’s shown he’s more than good enough to be part of the squad.
