The German international midfielder signed a three-year deal with Chelsea earlier this summer after opting to leave former club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Of Chelsea’s nine summer signings, Nüsken has been the player that has impressed goalkeeper Mušović the most in training and she is looking forward to seeing her in competitive action this season.
“I would say I’ve seen a high level overall, throughout the whole squad,” Mušović said when speaking to WSL Full-Time. “We’ve also got some good spices!
“I’ve seen some really good things from the German player Sjoeke Nüsken. I didn’t know too much (about her) from before but I’m really impressed and I’m looking forward to seeing (her).
“Mia (Fishel) is another player who has also impressed me. Every player has something to add and I’m excited to see where that leads.”
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has added more new faces to her squad this summer than she has done for a number of years. Goalkeeper Mušović knows that gelling as a team may be a challenge but the long-term prospects are very exciting.
She said “I think my first impression of getting back to it is once again, we have an amazing squad with world-class players in every position. That could be our biggest strength but also, maybe our biggest challenge to put that together. We saw in the World Cup, teams are getting better. In the Champions League, Arsenal, Juventus – these big clubs are already out of the competition.
“You need to create a good team to be able to perform, it doesn’t matter what individuals you have if you can’t put it together in a team. I’m excited to see that. I’ve seen the individuals, I believe that if we can put that all together with Emma (Hayes) leading, we can reach even higher this year.”
Chelsea kick-off the new Barclays Women’s Super League season with fixture against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 1 October 2023.
