WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues just a short time ago.
Rumours have long linked Fleming with a Chelsea exit this month and she has now sealed a move closer to home with NWSL club Portland Thorns. As part of the deal, it is thought that Chelsea have received a significant six-figure transfer fee for Fleming’s services.
The 25-year-old Canadian international has spent the last three-and-a-half seasons with Chelsea after joining the club in summer 2020. Fleming has won three Barclays Women’s Super League titles, three Adobe Women’s FA Cups, one FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup and the FA Women’s Community Shield with The Blues. Fleming was also a member of the squad which reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League final for the first time in 2020/2021.
Fleming leaves Chelsea having made 111 appearances for the South West Londoners in all competitions in which she has scored 12 goals. The midfielder was in and out of the Chelsea side throughout her time at the club but she was always a dependable option for manager Emma Hayes.
Fleming is the first permanent departure at Chelsea in the January transfer window.
