The international break is upon us, and to make it worse it’s an extra long one for Chelsea fans.

Players return to the club next week, but that weekend is the FA Cup Quarter Finals, which we’re not in. We have to wait until the following week for our game – and to compound things, we’ve been picked for Thursday night action in our derby against Tottenham, meaning it will be approaching 3 weeks between our last game and our next one.

Thankfully and thoughtfully, Chelsea dropped some big transfer news to keep us interested through this dry period. They announced that Geovany Quenda would be joining from Sporting CP in the summer of 2026, and on the London is Blue podcast they got CFC Central on for his thoughts on the deal.

He was hugely positive:

“There is no doubt that this guy is one of the best right wing talents in world football and has been for the last year and a half, two years. He was showing flashes of brilliance at youth level as well,” the stat-head said.

Quenda has a long way to go – but has the talent to get there

As CFC Central points out, this is not the finished article we’re signing – but he at least has more than a year to keep working on his game to get there:

“It’s a signing not exactly for [Enzo] Maresca, it’s a signing that’s an unpolished gem, and you can keep polishing it until it shines and you’ve got a year to give him that. So I think a very good deal in that respect, and not even an eye-watering cost. If you’re betting on potential it’s slightly more than what I would pay, but not exorbitant. It’s a very good fee for a very good player.”

We’re excited already.
