Apparently, Chelsea scouts have travelled to watch one potential new signing play in recent weeks and now he is apparently a ‘step away’ from joining them.

And furthermore, he is a fellow countryman of both Kendry Paez and Moises Caicedo, who of course already play for Chelsea although Paez is not officially arriving until the summer when he turns of age.

EXCLUSIVE! Premier League club make enquiry to sign Chelsea player that could lead to swap deal seeing striker going the other way!!

Chelsea have been known for snapping up top young talents from around the globe before they become too big and too expensive, and this player would absolutely be classed as one of those. Although he is also starting to grab some attention and senior appearances breaking through already.

Chelsea are showing interest in Club Brugge’s 20-year-old defender Joel Ordóñez, according to multiple reports this week.

Ordonez close to joining Chelsea?

Club Brugge signed the 20-year-old from Independiente del Valle for their academy in 2022 and promoted him to the senior team a year later.

He is also now a full Ecuador international with the centre-back starting in Ecuador’s win over Bolivia in the World Cup qualifiers last week.

Expreso in Ecuador state ‘Chelsea want him’. They add the defender is a ‘step away’ from meeting his compatriot, Moisés Caicedo, at the west London club.

Over at Olé, they state the Blues are looking at the Ecuadorian. Earlier this month, scouts from the Premier League side ‘travelled exclusively’ to watch Ordóñez in action against Aston Villa in the Champions League.

Olé are only reporting scouting at this moment though and not that it is close. They say they aren’t even sure at the moment whether Chelsea will even table an offer.

The report also states Club Brugge want €30m to sanction the player’s sale and Chelsea have to pay this fee to secure his services.
