Benoit Badiashile took his turn to be the player nominated for the press conference ahead of tonight’s UEFA Europa Conference League game between Chelsea and Noah, and the defender touched on a number of topics.

He is a regular in Enzo Maresca’s second string, and faces a tough battle to earn a first team spot with Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana currently holding down the starting central defender positions and Tosin Adarabioyo currently favoured over the Frenchman as their first replacement.

But he was asked more about some of the attacking players in the B team: Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk.

As you’d expect, Badiashile was positive about both of them:

“Misha is a really good player. He’s fast and sometimes he’s hard to catch! We all know how he can be, he’s a good person as well. We will try to help him to give his best. Joao is a top player. He is a smart player as well and a good person like Misha. And like Misha, we will try to help him to do his best.”

Creative attackers must entertain and produce to earn first team spot

Like Badiashile both players know their only chance to get into Enzo’s thinking for the first team is to perform exceptionally well in these second string games.

So while the opposition may be small, the stakes are high for both of them. Their last outing with the rest of their B team buddies was against Newcastle, and Felix in particular was pretty poor. Tonight’s opposition are far less impressive, but will be even more motivated, and the fans at Stamford Bridge will be expecting this attacking, exciting pair to put on a show.

Get out there and do your thing!
