Chelsea take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium in the fourth round of the FA Cup this weekend.
Enzo Maresca’s side returned to winning ways with a come-from-behind victory over West Ham on Monday night. The Blues have struggled for consistency in recent weeks but will be hoping to rediscover momentum in their chase for Champions League qualification and silverware.
Saturday evening’s game is the first of consecutive meetings between the teams. Chelsea also travel to face Brighton in the Premier League on February 14th.
The home side are aiming to bounce back from a stunning 7-0 loss at Nottingham Forest. That humbling defeat was Brighton’s heaviest in 67 years and has put Fabian Hurzeler under pressure.
Christopher Nkunku is likely to start at centre-forward for Chelsea. The Frenchman, who failed to secure a move away from the club in the transfer window, will step in with Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu injured.
Mykhailo Mudryk remains suspended for Chelsea after a positive drug sample, while Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia are still sidelined. A debut could be handed to Mathis Amougou who joined from Saint-Etienne on deadline day.
Chelsea have a clutch of ex-Brighton players who could feature. Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill and Moises Caicedo all previously represented the Seagulls.
Chelsea predicted XI: Jorgensen; Gusto, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Neto, Palmer, Sancho; Nkunku.
Brighton host Chelsea in the FA Cup’s fourth round on Saturday 8th February 2025. Kick-off at the Amex Stadium is 20:00 GMT.
The game will be shown live in the UK by ITV.
