In a battle of winless sides, it was Mazatlán FC who came out on top, defeating 10-man Chivas 2-1 on Friday night.
Scorers: Sánchez 69′, AlanĂs 87′; ZaldĂvar 78′
After a scoreless first half, the floodgates opened up in what would prove to be an action-packed second stanza.
Chivas would be stuck behind the eight ball in the 62nd minute as Fernando González was sent off after picking up his second yellow card.
The hosts would strike soon after as Alfonso Emilio Sánchez would score the opening goal, heading home a Édgar Bárcenas cross.
Despite being down a man, Chivas would crawl back as Chivas were awarded a penalty. Despite missing the original attempt, Angel ZaldĂvar followed up his shot and put the rebound home to equalise.
However, it would be an old acquaintance that would sink Chivas as Oswaldo AlanĂs scored from a set piece after the ball was nudged on by Nicolás Benedetti.
Chivas are now in 16th place on just five points, having drawn five and lost two of their first seven matches of the season.
