Chivas look set to hand Dieter Villalpando the chance to fill Alexis Vega’s boots in Saturday’s clash with Monterrey.
Vega misses out due to suspension after he was dismissed in the first half of last weekend’s 2-1 Clásico Tapatío win over Atlas.
While the number 10 role wouldn’t be Villalpando’s natural position, manager Luis Fernando Tena looks set to entrust the 28-year-old with the playmaking responsibilities against the Rayados.
Los Rojiblancos will be looking to build on a three-match winning run in the Clausura.
However, they will not have the backing of their home fans as all Liga MX games are being played behind closed doors this weekend.
Monterrey go into the game rooted to the bottom of the table.
They have yet to register a win this season, drawing four and losing five of their nine games to date.
