Ajax grabbed a 4-1 lead on aggregate after the first league of their Europa League play-off against Jagiellonia Białystok on Thursday.
Scorer: Diéguez 5′; Akpom 9′, 61′, 69′ (P), Godts 27′
Chuba Akpom showed manager Francesco Farioli just what he could do after helping Ajax pull off a turnaround over Polish outfit Jagiellonia Białystok.
The Amsterdam giants conceded after just five minutes when Adrián Diéguez bundled home a loose ball in the box which goalkeeper Remko Pasveer bobbled.
The No. 10 then turned on the jets and equalised immediately with a darting strike from a tight angle before pouncing on a loose ball himself and later sealing a hat-trick from the penalty spot.
Mika Godts was the one who scored the winner, though, after scoring his first for the club with a header at the back post. He could have made it two on the night but missed Ajax’s second penalty.
The Eredivisie side will now host Jagiellonia Białystok in Amsterdam for the second leg on 29 August.
