Samuel Chukwueze was the match-winner tonight for AC Milan as they got the better of Udinese at San Siro, and he admitted that it was an important win for the team.

Chukwueze has had a difficult season so far mostly due to a lack of opportunities with Christian Pulisic being in such good form, and yet he collected a feed from the American 13 minutes in and fired into the bottom corner with the kind of finish that wouldn’t have you believe it was his first home Serie A goal.

However, the Rossoneri then had to defend resiliently as they went down to 10 men after a debatable red card for Tijjani Reijnders. The away side thought they had snatched a point in the 95th minute (of 103 that were actually played) when Kabasele bundled in a scrappy goal, yet VAR came to the rescue.

Chukwueze was elected ‘Panini Player of the Match’ after the game and he spoke briefly to DAZN, commenting on the evening that allowed the Rossoneri to get back on their feet after the defeat two weeks ago in Florence.

“It was very nice, especially because of the attitude. We defended well, there was a team spirit that led us to victory,” he said (via MilanNews).

“A good feeling, very important for us. And this helps to give confidence, now we have to continue like this.”
