Manchester City will face Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The Blues will play at home in the first leg, scheduled for 18/19 March, before a return fixture in London on 26/27 March.
City qualified for the knockout stages for the first time in four seasons by finishing as runners up in Group D.
Only goal difference separated us and reigning European champions Barcelona, meaning we knew a tie against one of Arsenal, Chelsea and Lyon beckoned.
But it’s Sonia Bompastor's side who we will lock horns with in the last eight, with our opponents reaching the last eight by finishing top of Group B.
Should we progress from our two-legged tie, we will face one of Wolfsburg or Barcelona in the semi-finals, set to be played on 19/20 and 26/27 April respectively.
Like City, Chelsea are still searching for their first European title, but have gone close to achieving that in recent seasons.
They’ve reached the last four in each of the last two seasons and went even closer to the top prize in 2020/21, when they were beaten by Barcelona in the final.
Sonia Bompastor’s side qualified for the quarter-finals having finished top of Group B with a 100% record against Real Madrid, Twente and Celtic.
We’ve already faced Chelsea this season in the WSL, losing out 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, and are set to do battle in the League Cup final just four days ahead of that first leg tie at the Joie Stadium.
