“When I arrived we were all scared and insecure,” he said. “Now we have to think about doing well in every game and see what we can do by the end of the season.”

On Mario Hermoso’s departure, “Hermoso is a guy I like a lot.”

“When I arrived he was injured. Eventually he got in good shape but he wanted to play and I couldn’t assure him that. I understand he wanted to leave because a player like that deserves to play.”

“Rensch? With his arrival the team can also play with four at the back and change formation throughout the game.”

“All the rumors I hear about Paredes I hear them from the media, not from him. But as I said for Hermoso, I don’t hold anyone back, if anyone wants to leave so be it.”

“Cristante is a rediscovered player, he could replace Paredes if need be but he doesn’t have the same verticality. They are complementary, and I’m happy to have them both with me.”

“We have to improve against the big teams that are doing well, to contain them and create problems for them. Every day I see the team working to improve.”

“For me Soulé is a great player, he needs to be more concrete and that’s what I always ask of him. He will be a great player for the future of Roma.”

“I want to clear up a misconception. This team may make mistakes but we’re never lazy. You can say a lot of things about us but not that we’re lazy.”

“I have been following Hummels for a long time, I have always liked him. Having him as a player and not relying on him seemed bad to me, how can you not let a world champion play?”
